The Full Story
From teacher to designer.
Professionally, I want to be someone who helps people. From when I was young, I loved reading about and learning about history. Soon after graduating from SUNY Oswego with a degree in education, I became a high school social studies teacher. Seeing a student have a "a ha" moment was something that made me smile. The fulfillment of seeing students happy and learning made me enjoy the time and memories in the classroom. While making connections to their daily lives, I believed students learned best through experience.
When I began my journey as a UX designer, I started making connections from teaching to UX Design. These teaching skills makes my approach to UX unique as I bring a sense of empathy to everyone I am around. As a teacher, I enjoyed building relationships with students. Now as a UX Researcher with Design skills, I bring a warm and personal charm to the users I am designing products for.
As I began forming my design philosophy, I believe in taking into account the whole user. (i.e: understanding that some users may be color blind and using easily visible colors, easy to understand language, not all users are digital natives and designing products that are easy to use for everyone.) Since the world is a diverse place, I believe in creating products and technology to meet the needs of the 21st Century user. Whether a user over the age of 70 to a teenager, my goal is to design products that are easy to use, accessible, enjoyable, appealing, accurate, and informative for everyone.
